Quad - The closest approach...
Whilst technology has advanced rapidly, the QUAD philosophy has remained unchanged since 1936 - to bring you 'the closest approach to the original sound'.
Quad products are all leaders in their respective fields. Some, like the unique ESLs have never been equalled for their absolute speed, neutrality and transparency.
Above all, Quad products are about music reproduction.
True high-fidelity is never overtly impressive, but creates a window on recordings through accuracy. True high-fidelity is never fatiguing or boring, but engaging and stimulating through realism. Our approach is unique and has earned us the respect of the most demanding musicians, recording artists, hi-fi critics and music-lovers all over the world.

Quad L-ite
L-ite System
The L-ite system is conceived as a complete 5.1 speaker system capable of delivering outstanding performance from unbelievably small speakers.
Finished to the same high standard as the rest of the L-series range of speakers, the system sold complete includes four satellite speakers, a dedicated centre channel and a 300Wrms 10" powered subwoofer. All of the components are available separately. See below.
Brimming with technology, the L-ite satellites and centre all feature a cast alloy chassis bass driver, aluminium voice-coiled tweeter and the subwoofer features Quad unique 'Tri-lam' cone, and full remote control operation.
L-ite Satellite Speaker
The L-ite satellite speaker is tiny in proportion to the sound it's capable of. Even without a subwoofer, in the system, bass response is remarkable.
Using a smaller version of the same KEVLAR bass driver used in the award-winning 11L loudspeaker, the L-ite system has itself been picking up some rave reviews.
The L-ite Subwoofer is a 10/12th scale of the multi award-winning L-sub subwoofer. A remarkable concatenation of technology, the L-ite subwoofer features not only one of the most advanced bass drivers ever conceived and a superb filter stage offering six discrete paths, but also a powerful 300W amplifier and full remote control operation.
The 'Tri-lam' cone uses a carbon fibre weave sandwiched between two layers of glass fibre, providing first class strength, but with the desiarble damping characteristics of the glass-fibre.
Each crossover frequency is a separate circuit, for the best possible retention of signal quality and can be switched via the remote control (supplied) for seamless integration into your room and system.
The L-ite Centre is the perfect companion to the L-ite Satellite - tuned to the vocal range, reproducing speach with remarkable clarity and accuracy.
It is also, however tonally matched with the complete L-Series of loudspeakers, so can be used in any combination to produce an exceptional quality Home Theatre System.

The L2- Series Loudspeakers
The QUAD L2 Series in true Quad tradition. Dynamic loudspeakers offer levels of detail, neutrality and stereo imaging beyond anything else in their category. Following in the footsteps of their famous ESL brethren, all L2-series models set new standards of performance at their prices.
A wide frequency response and incredibly accurate drivers produce a sound-stage so vivid and coherent you can visualise each and every sound in three dimensional space. Build-quality is, as you would expect, superb.
High quality gold-plated bi-wire terminals and oxygen free internal wiring ensure excellent signal transmission.
Quad 9L2
The 9L2 Mini monitor speaker, (smaller than the 11L2, is ideal to replace the OEM speakers supplied with high-quality integrated micro and mini systems.
Many such all-in-one systems are capable of much better sound quality than their standard speakers are capable of reproducing. The 9L2 has been engineered to fill this gap, with a frequency response extending to 50Hz in the lower registers.
The 9L2 is capable of quite astonishing bass even despite their little size, so for the majority of listening, no bass reinforcement is required.

Quad 22L2
The QUAD 22L2 Loudspeakers is the flagship of the range. This tall, floorstanding model with ultra low distortion twin KEVLAR drivers produces a fast, dynamic bass, extending to around 30Hz at the lower end for real impact and a compelling sense of scale. Bass detail is excellent, tracking precisely every nuance of the deepest double bass while, maintaining a sense of open space around instruments, allowing them to 'breathe'. Individual instruments sound natural and occupy precise locations in the huge soundstage for a real sense of being there at the live recording. Even in complex orchestral pieces, each instrument can be clearly identified and followed, retaining it?s own characteristics and personality. A heavily braced cabinet reduces internal resonance to minimal levels and the high level of detail and precision exhibited by all the drive units makes for a speaker with both neutrality and resolution ? a worthy transducer for the audiophile and music-lover alike.

QC-twentyfour Valve line-only Pre amplifier
For the analogue purist, the combination of a good valve amplifier and a good turntable is the closest possible approach to the original recording. There are two options for adding such functionality to our valve pre-amplifiers. A solid-state module is available for the standard QC-twenty four pre-amplifier (known as the QC-24 phono stage), which allows direct connection of a turntable with an internal switch to change between moving coil and moving magnet cartridges. This can be fitted as standard or added later.

II-classic 15W Valve Mono Power amplifier
A faithful reproduction of the original, the new Quad II-classic offers audiophiles the chance to recreate the spirit and atmosphere produced from one of the most famous amplifiers in audio history. The original Quad II was first launched in 1953, designed by Peter Walker. At the time, many of his contemporaries were also producing good quality valve amplifiers. The Quad II looked, in comparison, very simple and unassuming, but its performance was far beyond that which its diminutive dimensions might suggest. The property which set the Quad II amplifier apart from other amplifiers of the time was its output stage. It was arranged such that the cathode coupled circuit emulated the performance of triode operation, but with the size and efficiency characteristics of pentode operation. It was this breakthrough that ensured the Quad II was to remain in continuous production until 1970. Peter’s circuit, notably the design of the output transformer, has become the stuff of legend amongst electronics engineers. Studied and analysed by the finest minds in the industry, the elegance and coherence of the design is still regarded as a reference today.
Given the quite modest components of the day, he was able to engineer something which was quite literally greater than the sum of its parts. The Quad II-Classic has been recreated accurately with output valves and input valves the equivalent of those used in the original design. The same balancing act has been employed to ensure the same wealth of detail and gentle tone of the original. The output valves produce around 15watts per channel, operating in Class A which, although slight by modern standards, allows a gloriously sweet and refined sound with appropriately matched contemporary loudspeakers.

Electrostatic Loudspeakers
The ESL2805
The ESL-2805 and ESL-2905 Electrostatics are Quad's latest reference loudspeakers and like their predecessors should be regarded amongst the finest loudspeakers in the world today. In areas such as transparency, and lack of colouration, they are without peer.
It should be noted that whilst moving-coil loudspeakers are the norm, the physical principles upon which they work are fatally flawed - and not even the latest advances in materials science can address their shortcomings.
Quad alone has sought a different path - to push the boundaries of electrostatic technology to the point where our ESLs are closer to the ideal loudspeaker than any other.
Quad's patented panel technology results in a combination of the speed and accuracy only possible from an electrostatic loudspeaker; together with the imaging and sound-staging only possible from a theoretically ideal point source; and the coherence and continuity of a single drive unit.
With possibly the lowest distortion of any loudspeaker, the ESL can be enjoyed for hours on end without fatigue; never adding or subtracting from the original recording. Even at low volume levels, they retain the full detail and drama of the music.
In short, the Quad ESL technology is unique in its clarity of sound, lack of distortion, lack of interference and continuity of response. The ESL-2805 and ESL-2905 loudspeakers are the absolute pinnacle of that technology. Engineered without compromise, they are destined to become modern classics.
