Introduction
Incorporates Quad’s patented current dumping technology and is one of the finest audio amplifiers available today.
The current dumping technique eliminates many of the problems associated with transistor amplifiers giving a consistent and predictable performance without a need for the fine tuning adjustments on the production line.
In current dumping amplifiers there is a very high quality low power output amplifier and a very high power output amplifier whose performance is not critical. This high power output amplifier controls the loudspeaker at all times and provides the current or ‘muscle’ to generate the sound.
The low power output amplifier is arranged to generate a signal that compensates for errors between the input signal and the signal fed to the loudspeakers. The result is that the quality and accuracy of the output signal depends only upon the performance of the low power amplifier.
In the 909 this low power output amplifier has been engineered to the highest standards. The problems of crossover distortion; quiescent current adjustment; thermal tracking and transistor matching all disappear. If such a thing as a perfect amplifier were to exist, then the 909 would be very close to that perfection.
99 Stereo Power Amplifier

Introduction
Quad power amplifiers have always been amongst the finest in the world. Over the years, they have earned a reputation for being ‘straight wires with gain’, because they neither add nor take anything away from the original music signal. The 99 stereo power amplifier maintains this tradition.
It uses a dual complementary feedback circuit with exceptional stability margins to achieve exemplary performance and an output of over 80 watts per channel. Overload recovery is instantaneous and the amplifier is fully protected against over-driving or misuse, without resorting to output line fuses or relays, which degrade the quality of the signal fed to the loudspeakers.
It can be safely used to drive most types of loudspeaker, both Quad’s own electrostatic models and conventional models made by both Quad and other manufacturers.

Introduction
Powerful amplifiers can more faithfully reproduce the dynamics of the music, enabling the user to have a wider choice in the selection of loudspeakers, particularly when less efficient models are being considered.
Power is something that this 99 mono power amplifier has in abundance. Into a nominal 8 ohm load it delivers well over 150 Watts and a breathtaking 220 Watts into a 4 ohm load. In all other respects, this amplifier is close to the 99 stereo power amplifier and shares its technology and topology as well as its excellent standards of performance.
99 CD-S CD player

Introduction
Offering a high level of sound quality output, but in a simpler format than the CD-P. This model dispenses with the additional digital inputs and the variable output level of the full CD-P.
Using a new transport, our own proprietary loading mechanism, control software and the most advanced decoding with the emphasis on reading data correctly, the CD-S produces a sensational performance without fuss. Mains powered and offered with standard RCA connectors or with a ‘bus-link’ to be connected through a Quad 99 pre-amplifier, the CD-S is as versatile as it is practical. When used with the ‘bus-link’ system, the CD player is operated through the system remote control (supplied with the pre-amplifier) and dovetails into the system. Power triggers, system commands and balanced audio signals are all communicated through the bus system. The CD-S uses Crystal 24bit/96kHz DACs for a high resolution, detailed soundstage.

Introduction
The Quad CD-P shares only the casework with its brother, the CD-S. A clean sheet design, the CD-P confirms the relevance of CD as a state-of-the-art format in the 21st century. With a level of detail and accuracy to this standard, many industry onlookers have questioned the need for the new ‘high-resolution’ formats at all. Although we always look with interest at new technologies, the compromise to CD performance is not justified by the limited amount of well recorded high-resolution software available. Rather, the ability to reproduce CD to the very highest standards possible is our absolute priority.
The CD-P features both a new transport and new D/A converters of the very highest quality. The three laserpickup is as accurate as it is reliable and represents the very pinnacle of the art. Converting this digital data to an analogue signal is the task of a 24bit, 192kHz D/A Converter, the output from which is available as either fixed level (for use with a traditional pre-amplifier), or as variable level (addressed in the analogue domain) to allow direct connection to a power amplifier. Although this potentiometer output is not a fully functioned preamplifier, this simple and inexpensive addition produces the ability to create the shortest possible signal path from DAC to speaker.
This versatility is further enhanced as the CD-P features no less than six digital inputs which will upsample any recognised PCM stream - such as that from a digital output on a DAB tuner or satellite box. This allows the CD-P to be used as the centre of a digital system, capable of delivering outstanding improvements to a whole host of digital sources.

Introduction
In many countries FM radio still has the potential to provide the highest fidelity programme quality. The Quad 99 FM Tuner has been designed to make the best use of that potential. The UK has gained a worldwide reputation for the high quality music broadcasts transmitted by the BBC, and as a result, manufacturers such as Quad have considerable experience in designing tuners that receive and reproduce music realistically. The Quad 99 FM Tuner incorporates that experience in full.
The 99 FM Tuner and integrated 99 CD Player are both connected to the rest of the system via our ‘Quad Link’ bus system, which combines complete system control with balanced line audio transmission. Not only does this make the entire system remarkably easy to control, but provides the cleanest audio signal possible.

A wide frequency response and incredibly accurate drivers produce a sound-stage so vivid and coherent you can visualise each and every sound in three dimensional space.
Build-quality is, as you would expect, superb. Each cabinet is made from reinforced 18mm MDF, with a choice of four real wood veneers, Black - Rosewood - Cherry or Birds Eye Maple.
High quality gold-plated bi-wire terminals and oxygen free internal wiring ensure excellent signal transmission.

Introduction
The 21L2 is the height of classical sophistication. A loudspeaker which is simple and elegant in design, yet remarkable in performance.
As well as negating the need for stands, the 21L gives an extended bass response over the stand-mount versions, yet retains all the precision, detail and imaging capabilities of its smaller brethren. The lustrous piano finish is applied to each speaker by hand over a period of seven days, each of which involves applying a coat of lacquer which must then dry at an ambient temperature before being cut and polished. The final coat is polished to a high gloss finish to produce one of the finest finishes seen on any loudspeaker in this class.

Introduction
The 22L is the flagship of the range. This tall, floorstanding model with ultra low distortion twin KEVLAR drivers produces a fast, dynamic bass, extending to around 30Hz at the lower end for real impact and a compelling sense of scale. Bass detail is excellent, tracking precisely every nuance of the deepest double bass while, maintaining a sense of open space around instruments, allowing them to 'breathe'. Individual instruments sound natural and occupy precise locations in the huge soundstage for a real sense of being there at the live recording. Even in complex orchestral pieces, each instrument can be clearly identified and followed, retaining it?s own characteristics and personality. A heavily braced cabinet reduces internal resonance to minimal levels and the high level of detail and precision exhibited by all the drive units makes for a speaker with both neutrality and resolution ? a worthy transducer for the audiophile and music-lover alike.

The ESL2805
NEW ESLs Launched in UK
The new ESL-2805 and ESL-2905 Electrostatics
are Quad's latest reference loudspeakers and like their predecessors should be regarded amongst the finest loudspeakers in the world today. In areas such as transparency, and lack of colouration, they are without peer.
It should be noted that whilst moving-coil loudspeakers are the norm, the physical principles upon which they work are fatally flawed - and not even the latest advances in materials science can address their shortcomings.
Quad alone has sought a different path - to push the boundaries of electrostatic technology to the point where our ESLs are closer to the ideal loudspeaker than any other.
Quad's patented panel technology results in a combination of the speed and accuracy only possible from an electrostatic loudspeaker; together with the imaging and sound-staging only possible from a theoretically ideal point source; and the coherence and continuity of a single drive unit.
With possibly the lowest distortion of any loudspeaker, the ESL can be enjoyed for hours on end without fatigue; never adding or subtracting from the original recording. Even at low volume levels, they retain the full detail and drama of the music.
