Trimless Series
Technologies used in the new CWT series are developed from Monitor Audios' award winning hi-end audiophile speakers, which have been refined and honed over the last 40 years. CWT speakers have been developed to provide synergy with Monitor Audio's other custom fit and home speakers. They apply innovative design skills and experience in making high-end hi-fi and home theatre speakers to the custom fit environment providing unrivalled performance and reliability.
The new CWT series offer versatile installation options for both in-ceiling and in-wall applications. This high performance range of loudspeakers has been created to provide flexible installation in stealthy 'trim-less' round or square grilles. Featuring proven technologies and unique design features, CWT models combine high efficiency and wide frequency range to facilitate flexible system design across a wide range of demanding residential and commercial installations. All CWT bass drivers feature MMPSII cone technology coupled with Monitor Audios' trade mark C-CAM0 gold dome tweeter. High frequency performance has been enhanced further by recent improvements to our C-CAM tweeter, taking the frequency band way past the limits of human hearing. The pivoting tweeter can be directed towards the listening space to provide ideal imaging and reduce unwanted reflections when installed close to corners or wall boundaries. Simple crossover design implemented using high grade audiophile components to preserve the signal and provide a smooth yet detailed character.
Featured Technology
MMPII
MMPII (Metal Matrix Polymer) driver cones have a polypropylene base loaded with metallic particles for a rigid and responsive structure. A high-pressure, injection molded process achieves a different cone thickness at critical points to optimize stiffness and consistency resulting in superior sonic performance.
Magnetic Grille Fixing
Ultra-powerful Neodymium magnets hold the speaker grilles in place. This allows for easier installation and access as well as the option to switch effortlessly between the square and circular grille options.
C-CAM
C-CAM (Ceramic-Coated Aluminum Magnesium) is an innovative alloy material originally developed by the aerospace industry for its use as blades in jet engines where low mass and extreme rigidity are required. Monitor Audio C-CAM drivers are formed from an alloy of aluminum and magnesium, which is made into the cone shape by a two stage high pressure forming technique. After forming the shape, a layer of pure ceramic (alumina) is deposited onto the surfaces, to give a completely rigid exterior. The resulting properties of the C-CAM material are lightning-fast response for incredible clarity and extreme rigidity for low distortion.
Tri-Grip
All models feature the unique Tri-Grip fixing design. This 3-position 'dog' style fixing provides greater contact surface area than other types of fixings whilst saving important installer fitting time. The Tri-Grip dog fixings are made from a tough re-enforced polymer providing a secure fixing without the risk over-tightening.
All models have been designed to be less than 4" deep, which means both round and square grille styles can fit into a standard stud wall, or where mounting depth is restricted. By integrating the bass driver basket and frame, our engineers have managed to reduce the overall size by around 25% compared to its counterparts, whilst maintaining the same driver size and performance.
Grilles are held in place magnetically by high power Neodymium magnets which provide simple installation and servicing. Since the sub structure for the units are identical, it's possible to change the grilles from round to square (or vice-versa), should you so desire by simply removing the magnetic grille and replacing with a new one.

Gold Dome C-CAM®
The gold dome tweeter is formed from a ceramic-coated aluminium/magnesium alloy, gold anodised to a specific thickness for ideal stiffness and damping characteristics. Its new profile and surround geometry have been developed using advanced modelling tools, to provide the optimum qualities for accurate sound reproduction. The new design moves the first order of breakup to beyond 35kHz, producing a linear response way beyond audibility, which matches the wide frequency bandwidth available from HD music and cinema sound formats.
The gold dome is thinner, lighter, more rigid and therefore more efficient than domes made from other materials which are prone to distortion in the audio band.
MMP® II
Metal Matrix Polymer driver cones have a polypropylene base loaded with metallic particles to offer a rigid and responsive structure. They are manufactured using a sophisticated high-pressure injection process, which modulates cone thickness at critical points to optimise stiffness and consistency, resulting in a superior sonic performance.

C-CAM® Drivers
Ceramic-Coated Aluminium/Magnesium is a material originally developed by the aerospace industry for jet engine components. Its properties are ideal for loudspeaker cones being extremely rigid, yet light enough to yield high overall efficiency. In manufacture, aluminium/magnesium alloy undergoes a three-stage stress-relieving process to remove surface deformation and molecular weakness. Once formed, the alloy cone is subjected to a high temperature anodic coating process in which a layer of pure ceramic alumina is depleted onto its surfaces to a depth of 50 microns, producing a completely rigid sandwich of alloy and heat-dissipating ceramic material.
Conventional cones are liable to flex or twist in operation, producing a significant level of audible distortion. C-CAM cones have a much higher resistance to bending stress and therefore exhibit much greater fidelity over their entire operating range. C-CAM tweeters and woofers share an audible consistency producing a smooth transition of frequencies and a sense of realism and cohesion in the soundstage.
