It can evolve from a stereo 60Wpch (8ohms) power amp all the way through to a powerful 220w (4ohms) mono amplifier. In fact, this incredible design can also be upgraded further as we offer a factory upgrade to the next range up, the X power, which delivers even more performance.
As you upgrade your hi-fi system, 8 Power evolves to meet your demands, adding power and finesse with each upgrade. You may run your new amp in stereo or mono, with or without the matching PSX-R.

Cyrus CD 6 SE The new CD 6 SE may be our entry CD player but it’s based on the same platform as its more exotic siblings. In fact all three players in the range are upgradeable from one to another so you benefit from many upgrade possibilities. This player uses the same low-contact precision slot loading CD drive as the CD Xt SE transport so you can be assured that it’s build quality is unquestionable. The CD 6 SE uses our latest SE engineering to raise the standards over last year’s model that was voted CD product of the year 2006 by What Hi-Fi.

CD8SE CD Player The CD 8 SE incorporates the same low-contact precision slot loading CD drive as the CD Xt SE transport. The CD 8 SE also benefits from our latest Servo Evolution optical data control systems that greatly improve the integrity of the data we read from the CD. Internally the power supply design features twin, custom made, transformers each feeding individual highly regulated power supplies which in turn feed the 11 separate sections of the player.
The CD 8 SE’s outstanding performance can be expanded further by adding a Cyrus PSX-R power supply, which will help reveal subtle details within the recording; this has to be heard to be fully appreciated. When used as an integrated CD player the specially developed DAC circuitry provides outstanding performance. When partnered with our optional DAC X component, the CD 8 SE then operates as a CD transport. Returning the CD 8 SE to Cyrus for upgrade to the dedicated CD transport, CD Xt SE, allows you to move up to one of the finest CD systems in the world. However configured, this player will produce stunning performance and, with the right speakers, an almost holographic 3D image. Cyrus’ CD platform is a valuable example of Cyrus’ upgrade philosophy. Cyrus CD Xt SE
The CD Xt SE is the transport or disc spinning half of the ultimate Cyrus CD player system. At the highest levels of CD player development we have learnt that it is beneficial to separate certain sections of the CD mechanics from the low level decoding sections. The most successful way we have found to do this is to manufacture the player in two separate and isolated die-cast chassis. The benefits of this approach bring higher resolution, quieter background and improved imagery.
The SE engineering was originally developed for the CDXt. You can read more about Servo Evolution here, but in a nutshell, the SE brings the following key benefits;
- Specifically developed for Audio data standards
- Up to 5 times fewer data errors than ordinary players
- Less reliance on error correction
- Better signal to noise ratio
- Improved laser control accuracy
- Upgrade path from recent Cyrus CD players
Realising quite quickly that if they could incorporate SE across the range this would bring an economy of scale and therefore only a relatively small extra cost to each model, rather than loading all the SE development overheads into the high-end model CDXt. This is why CD Xt SE is (in the world of high-end audio) relatively inexpensive.
The ‘other half’ of the high-end CD playing system is a matching DAC called DAC X. Separating the mechanical elements from the low-level decoding circuits offers significant improvement to the resolution of the audio signals. Conversely joining the low level analog signals, post DAC, with the preamplifier delivers improvements so we make a combined DAC and preamp model called DAC XP for the ultimate hi-performance solution. You have a choice between our high performance DAC X with our most advanced engineering or the preamp equipped version for the best systems. Being Cyrus, the multi-input decoder only (DAC X) can be upgraded to full DAC XP dual mono, fully balanced preamplifier specification later on. So if the DAC XP is beyond your means initially, you can upgrade later and gain the benefits of the ultimate performance as funds allow.
This integration brings several benefits because, unlike the transport, the preamplifier benefits from it’s closer physical link to the DAC and a much smaller circuit topology.

PRE vs2 Pre Amplifier The Pre vs2 is a new Cyrus preamp circuit created around the latest “Virtual Servo” or ‘VS2’ preamp developments. Because the new Pre vs2 is built on the same platform as the integrated amplifiers they have been able to achieve considerable cost savings and can therefore offer this new high performance preamp at a previously unattainable price point.
New Virtual Servo preamplifier technology - This is a new generation of preamplifier designs from the Cyrus R&D lab and was originally developed for their most exotic preamplifiers. Now appearing in their more affordable models, it is based on the work achieved with their acclaimed Virtual Servo preamp. Vs2 technology is a Cyrus developed technology and is unique to Cyrus. This latest vs2 iteration includes, amongst many refinements, the latest generation of digital volume IC’s, hence vs2. Further refining their vs topology has brought very worthwhile advances over the previous model.
